The wood in our outdoor cabinetry is treated with a UV-inhibitive weather-sealing stain.
The result is beautifully finished woodwork with superior UV protection and resistance to the
elements.  As with all exterior wood products, periodic maintenance is required to maintain the
cabinetry's rich color.  However, you may choose to let the cabinetry weather naturally.  This is
fine, and the structural integrity of the cabinetry will not be negatively affected.

Maintenance frequency depends on your local environment and placement of your outdoor
cabinetry.  For cabinets placed in full sunlight and exposure to the elements, a maintenance coat
may need to be applied every 1-2 years.  For shaded areas of use, you should apply a
maintenance topcoat every 3-4 years.   An annual inspection is best for monitoring the wood
finish.

Below are instructions for applying and maintaining the stained finish of your outdoor cabinets.
Wood Maintenance

- Messmer's UV Plus for Hardwood Decks (one gallon for every 200-250 sq. feet of wood)
-
Messmer's Wood & Deck Cleaner (Part A), or similar product.
- Bristle brush or 3/8" nap roller and roller pans

Prep:
Make sure the wood surface is clean, dry and in good condition.  Clean wood surfaces with
Messmer's Wood & Deck Cleaner (Part A), or another high quality wood cleaner of your
choice.  Rinse thoroughly with clean water.  Cover plants, grass, concrete, trim, and any
other areas you don't want stained.

Apply:
Stir product thoroughly. Make sure that all pigment is mixed evenly into the stain. Using a
bristle brush or roller brush, apply a uniform even coat.  Stain the full length of boards,
keeping a wet edge.  Work with the grain. After 30-45 minutes, brush out any excess
product puddled or pooled on the wood surfaces.  If excess product is not removed, sticky,
shiny spots may remain on the surface.  Use an all-cotton tee shirt to wipe excess stain
from all surfaces.

Clean-up:
Clean application equipment with mineral spirits (paint thinner)
